Sign a message with Trezor
Trezor Suite has a built-in Sign & Verify tool for each account. It is not available for Taproot accounts.
Your keys never leave your wallet. Never paste your recovery words anywhere, including KeyProof. Signing a message is not a transaction.
Chains: Bitcoin, Bitcoin-like coins, EVM chains, Cardano
Signature format: Bitcoin: a base64 compact signature (KeyProof checks it as BIP-137/Electrum format). EVM: personal_sign.
Sign with Trezor Suite[1]
- Open the account you want to sign with in Trezor Suite, click the three dots and choose Sign & Verify.
- Type or paste the message into the Message box. Paste the correct address into the Address box. Click Sign.
- Check the message text on your Trezor's screen and confirm it if it is correct.
- The signature appears in Suite. Click Copy & Close.
- Optional: to check it, open Sign & Verify again, paste the message, address and signature, click Verify, and confirm on the device. "Message verified" appears.
Tips
- Sign & Verify does not work on Taproot (bc1p…) accounts. Use a SegWit (bc1q…) address or another method the exchange offers.[1]
- Bitpanda says Trezor verification is not supported on mobile, so use a desktop.[2]
